The Institute for Sound and Music e.V. is a Berlin-based non-profit organization dedicated to the culture of Sound, Immersive Art, and Electronic Music.

Presently, the ISM is raising support and awareness for its ultimate goal to establish a new and permanent home for a cutting-edge museum experience in Berlin, through a series of three global touring exhibitions.

2017 - ISM Founded

The organization hosted its first annual Members Meeting in August, 2016. In January, 2017, the Institute for Sound and Music e.V. was registered as an official non-profit eingetragene verein, under German law.




The Hexadome premieres as a new format featuring 9 installations and performances by outstanding international contemporary artists from the sound, immersive art, and visual disciplines in the Atrium of Berlin’s Martin-Gropius-Bau.

The third major exhibition planned by ISM focuses on the music experience and will premiere in 2021.



ISM Berlin Location Established

Following the conclusion of three major exhibitions, ISM will establish a permanent location for artists, musicians and the general public in Berlin.
